Finals week

As it is finals week, I really don't have time for a lengthy post.  But I thought I'd update you on all that is going on in my world:

What has happened since the last time I blogged?  A lot.  Here's a list of 10 things that I can think of right now.

1. CCT produced AMAZING performances of Through the Looking Glass.

2. I road tripped to Raleigh with two fantastic friends!

3. CYT produced a FANTASTIC show in The Phantom of the Opera.

4. A commoner married a prince in a fairy tale wedding and my mom recorded 24/7 coverage for me to watch when this semester is through.

5. My mom gave me literally 5 pounds of candy, which will probably be gone by the end of this week, as it is, in fact, finals week.

6. The US finally got the world's most wanted terrorist.

7. One of my favorite people in the whole world got engaged!!!!!!!!!

8. I finished a final exam and portfolio for one of my classes.

9. I thought about all the work I still have to do before next Tuesday night.

10. I realized I should stop blogging and get to it! :)

Be back when I have regained my sanity.

Revision is forgiveness

Since I am spending bookoos of time revising project after project, I thought I would share one of my favorite quotes about revision:

"Revision is hope.  We live our 'one, wild and precious life,' as Mary Oliver calls it, only once, but we get to reconsider it dozens of times along the way. . . .

Revision is like the layers of soil in Italian vineyards, like the layers of ancient civilizations beneath modern cities, like the layers of DNA in the oldest variety of grape, grafted by vintners over centuries into new varieties of grape, always in pursuit of the finest wine.

Revision is a second, third, fourth, even a twentieth chance.

We can revise our life.  We can revise our teaching.  We can revise the way we operate in the world.  Think about revision in the largest sense, of imagining things as if they could be otherwise, as Maxine Green says.

Revision is forgiveness."
